Dr. Trisha Wald named chair of Business Department
Dr. Trisha Wald has been named chair of the Business Department for Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology in Weatherford.
“I look forward to stepping back into a leadership position and helping the faculty, staff and students of the Department of Business,” Wald said.
Wald is a graduate of Thomas High School, a 2003 graduate of SWOSU, and a 2006 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where she graduated with honors.
After practicing law for a few years, Wald came back to SWOSU and started teaching in fall 2008. While at SWOSU, she has taught classes in business law, tax law and accounting. In addition to teaching, she has been active in scholarly activities through research and presentations with both the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, a national group, and its regional affiliate, the Southern Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
Wald is involved in campus and community activities. She was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor in 2014. In that year, she also received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. From June 2016 until December 2018, she served as chair of the Department of Business and Computer Science. In 2017, Wald was awarded the prestigious Bernhardt Academic Excellence Award at SWOSU. Finally, in the fall 2019, she was promoted to the rank of professor.
She and her husband, Nick, live in Weatherford and have three children in Weatherford Public Schools – Noah, an eighth-grader; Eli, a fifth-grader, and Jacob, a third-grader. They are members of St. Eugene Catholic Church in Weatherford.
“Trisha Wald will provide the leadership skills needed to grow our business programs and maintain the high level of talent in our group of faculty members,” said SWOSU Associate Dean Dr. Patsy Parker. “We are excited to have her as chair of the Business Department.”
