Bulldogs fall to Boll Weevils

The SWOSU men’s basketball team had their four-game winning streak ended by the University of Arkansas of Monticello. While the final score was 71-51 in favor of UAM, the Bulldogs played it closer than it appears.

The Bulldogs made a late-game effort and got the game within ten points, before having a couple of empty possessions and began fouling. UAM – with a few baskets and free throws – ran away with the game.

Damion Thornton led the way for the Bulldogs, as he had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds on 5-for-19 shooting. The second leading scorer was Chris Braggs Jr. with 12 points on 8-for-8 free throw shooting.

The Bulldogs were shut down early, as UAM got off to a hot start shooting, and never gave SWOSU a real chance to get back in the game.

SWOSU’s next matchup is a rivalry matchup against Northwestern Oklahoma State University, in which the Bulldogs will attempt to get things back on track, following the ending of their winning streak. The matchup will occur next Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the PCEC.
