In January 2021, the terrace on the east side of the Student Union was torn down. It had deteriorated over time and some parts of it had already been closed to the public during Fall 2020.

“We build back new,” James Skinner, Director of the Physical Plant, said in January. Back then, he estimated the terrace to be rebuilt “by March.”

Now, Skinner expects construction of the new terrace not to start by Spring 2022. “This project has been delayed until sometime next spring,” he told The Southwestern.

The new terrace will consist of new treated wood, but will have the same design as the last one.
