Lady Bulldogs win blowout game against rival Northwestern
The Southwestern Oklahoma State women’s basketball team matched up against their rival Northwestern Oklahoma State. The two teams last met on Jan. 13, which resulted in a NWOSU 79-68 victory.
SWOSU came into this game with energy and they jumped onto a very quick 12-0 start. NWOSU was struggling to get past the Lady Bulldogs’ press.
Led by Lauren Ramey, SWOSU finished the first quarter with a 23-7 lead and all the momentum. The press didn’t go away after the first quarter as the Lady Bulldogs were sticking to their game plan and pushing the pace.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 20-point lead, leading 30-10 with 6:02 remaining in the first half. Macy Gore led SWOSU through the second quarter, and they finished the half leading 48-22.
NWOSU came into the third quarter with more energy and hung with SWOSU, only losing the quarter by two points, but SWOSU’s early game effort put the game out of reach for NWOSU. Morgan Smith scored all 17 of her points in the second half to ensure no comeback would come from the Lady Rangers.
With subs rolling in, SWOSU pushed its lead further and further before winning the game 92-58. The SWOSU Lady Bulldogs are now 22-4 on the season, and 16-2 in the Great American Conference. Their next matchup is against Harding University on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
