Jazz Ensembles
SWOSU Jazz Ensembles A, B, as well as the jazz combos will be performing at the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on March 10, starting at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
“Graduate Assistant Tyler Macon and undergraduate student Ben Esparza will also be leading ensembles at this event.” Dr. Richard Tirk stated. “It’ll be a fun show.
“Jazz rock and fusion came out of jazz musicians’ interest in amplified music,” Tirk said. “One of the (first) albums to highlight this new sound was Miles Davis’ ‘Bitches Brew’ from 1969. Miles collaborated with many artists who went on to lead the way in this new style of music.”
Seven to 10 different songs will be performed, including songs from Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Pat Metheny and other artists.
