SWOSU men’s and women’s basketball team make NCAA D2 National Tournament
With both the SWOSU men’s and women’s basketball teams winning the Great American Conference Championship on Sunday – for the first time in school history – both teams have secured a spot in the NCAA D2 National Tournament.
The SWOSU men’s basketball team will matchup against the host of their regional play and the top seed in the region, Augustana. SWOSU secured their spot in the tournament by knocking off three straight teams ranked higher than them in the GAC Tournament. Damion Thornton was the GAC Tournament MVP with Kamden Gipson making the All-Tournament team. The Bulldogs will play in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Lady Bulldogs will play in Hays, Kansas and will match up against the seventh seed Missouri Western. Makyra Tramble earned herself the GAC Tournament MVP. Other notable players were Lauren Ramey and Macy Gore who also made the women’s All-Tournament team.
