SWOSU Soccer Wins GAC Championship
The SWOSU soccer team is 9-5-7 on the season, including a 9-0-5 record in the Great American Conference. They began their GAC tournament run with a matchup against Northwestern Oklahoma State University, which was a 1-0 win for the Lady Bulldogs. The lone score was scored by Launa Torrez.
The win against NWOSU put the Lady Bulldogs in the GAC Championship game, where they were set to take on Oklahoma Baptist University. They started the game off solidly with a quick goal, which led to them controlling the game. Both Micaela Swain and Sola Tsuruta scored a goal in the championship matchup.
Tsuruta won the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament, and she also got the nod on the All-GAC Tournament team.
For the Lady Bulldogs, they won their fifth GAC championship in school history. With the win, the women will now have the chance to compete in the NCAA Tournament. In the tournament, they will open as the eighth seed and will take on Central Missouri, who is hosting the tournament.
However, the Lady Bulldogs do not have an easy matchup as they are 0-12 in games against Central Missouri and have lost to them in each of their NCAA Tournament appearances. Though, the team will try their best to beat Central Missouri.
