Fight for a cure; Custer County’s Relay for life
Relay for Life is a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life events take place all over the world as communities gather to raise money in the fight against cancer. The funds are raised for cancer research as well as for stay and travel patients and other support the patients and their families need. SWOSU will once again be hosting Custer County’s Relay for Life event.
During the event, SWOSU will be honoring those within the community who have fought against cancer as well as recognizing those who have lost their battle. This year’s fundraising goal is $20,000. Around $13,000 has been raised, which is what the community raised at last year’s event.
At the event, there will be fun activities to do at each team’s booth as well as live entertainment, games, contests, and food. Relay for Life shirts are also available for purchase. Each shirt is $10 and will be available through March 31.
If anyone would like to participate as a team, sponsor, or donators, please contact the event lead, Brianna Weber, through email at [email protected] or through her mobile device at (580)-305-2099.
If you would like to go to this year’s Custer County Relay for Life event, it will be held in the SWOSU Wellness Center on Friday, April 21 from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
