SWOSU football took on UAM this past Saturday and fell 39 to 28.
Coming into the third quarter SWOSU football was up 14-10. They were able to score two back to back plays. One of these drives came from quarterback Kai Kunz. This put the bulldogs ahead 28-10. Although the Dawgs had plenty of momentum to finish the 3rd quarter, this is where UAM found a drive to gain the energy over SWOSU. This came from a 72 yard scoring drive with 49 seconds left in the 3rd by Monticello.
Heading into the fourth the Dawgs still led 28 to 17. The game changing drive happened with 8:15 still left of the clock. SWOSU was going for a punt, when UAM blocked and was able to score. This put the dawgs down 32 to 28 due to another touchdown before this play. What made this play so important was you could feel the energy and drive being shifted from the bulldogs to Monticello. UAM then went to score one more touchdown to close the door for the Dawgs, 39-28.
This game was seen as a strong game for the bulldogs. The first home game of the year left many people wondering if the dawgs are becoming stronger on the field. Speaking to player Ethane Hyche post game he stated “Being a senior this year I’ve seen this team go up and down. I for sure believe we will produce more this year, and I feel we have a strong enough team to really change this program.”
The Dawgs are back at it against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma Saturday at 6pm.
