With a scoring drive in the fourth quarter to put the Dawgs ahead, they take the win 24-17 against SNU.
During the first quarter, Southern Nazarene came out hard with a touchdown by Rasheed Noel with 8:50 seconds left on the clock giving them the lead 7-0. This did not slow down the Dawgs defense. On the next drive SWOSU had an interception. Desmond Greene was able to make the interception and go for a 56 yard run for the bulldogs offense. With 4:49 left, Kai Kunz scored and the extra point was good by Ethan McBee tying the game 7-7.
Starting strong in the second quarter, SWOSU is able to get the ball into the endzone early. The touchdown came, again, from Kai Kunz with 10:33 left in the quarter. The dawgs don’t stop pushing and Ethan McBee goes for a 22 yd field goal and it is good. This makes the game 17-7, 4:22 left. SNU goes for their own field goal attempt with :22 seconds until half time. The attempt was good , making the game 17-10 SWOSU.
Coming out of half time into the 3rd quarter both teams had strong outings but both came up short this quarter. This brings us to the 4th quarter.
Coming out during their first possession in the 4th, SNU reached their end zone tying the game 17-17. The bulldogs did not give up though, following this possession they scored one of their own putting them ahead 24-17 with 7:21 left. This touchdown came again from Kai Kunz with a 37 yard run. The bulldogs defense remained strong and the game stayed at 24-17 giving SWOSU the family day win.
The bulldogs look forward to taking the momentum from this win when they face #1 ranked Harding Saturday October 5th at 2pm on their home field here in Weatherford.
