It’s almost Halloween and that means it’s time for one of the creepiest, crawliest annual events that Southwestern State Oklahoma University (SWOSU) has: Mann Hall Mania! 2024 marks the third year that Mann Hall Mania has been active and it’s expected to be a spooky great time!

I sat down with Courtney Riley, a second-year Resident Advisor (RA) at Henrietta Mann Hall, to ask about this event and learn more about it from an insider. When asked what her personal favorite thing was about Mann Hall Mania, she said, “I love the haunted house that Reslife and the Mann Hall RAs put on every year!” She also said she is excited about the costume contest and to act in the haunted house. If you went to last year’s Mann Hall Mania and went through the haunted house, you could have found her acting in the Asylum section as a deranged mental patient who was screaming incessantly for passersby to get out. Who knows what we will see her as this year?

When asked if she could give a teaser or a hint as to what we will see from Mann Hall Mania this year, Riley said to expect to see some rooms with inspiration from some recent movies and some people’s biggest fears. Lastly, I asked Riley why she would recommend people come to Mann Hall Mania. She said, “I would recommend it to any SWOSU student because it is a great way to get out of their rooms and socialize. It is also a way to get that hit of nostalgia with the carnival games, the costume contest, and the free haunted house! Everything is completely free and it is just a fun night out during the very stressful times that are near the end of the semester!”

Be sure to clear your calendar and come out to Henrietta Mann Hall for the third annual Mann Hall Mania on October 23rd, 2024 at 7:30 pm with the haunted house starting at 7:30 pm! It’ll be a terrifyingly grand time that you won’t want to miss! And, remember, it only happens once a year, so don’t miss out or you will have to wait until next October!
