Southwestern Oklahoma State University Football Shutout Rival School Northwestern Oklahoma State University
SWOSU Football took a 50-0 shutout win against rival NWOSU to end their 2024 season.
This weekend made history for SWOSU football. Not only did they have a huge shutout, but this was the first time in two decades for this to happen for Bulldog football. The game was full of plays we haven’t seen from the Dawgs this year. They wanted this win especially for the seniors who celebrated their last game, it couldn’t be more picture perfect for them.
It all began in the first quarter with a 62 yard pass from Tate Robards to Elijiah Reed for a touchdown. But it didn’t stop there. Tate Robards threw a 22 yards pass to Elijiah Reed for the second touchdown of the game. Ethan McBee came in both times for the kick and was good. Defense stayed strong and didn’t let NWOSU push too close to their endzone. This put the dawgs up 14-0 going into the second quarter.
Into the second quarter, defense for the bulldogs stayed strong but so did NWOSU. No points were scored this quarter from either side.
Heading into the third quarter, the Dawgs began to run away with the game. Both offense and defense came out on fire. Defense had three turnovers just this quarter. Which paired with the three touchdowns scored by SWOSU. One of these touchdowns was the longest rushing touchdown of the season at 43 yards by Dante Dean. Another one of these touchdowns came from the Dawgs defense when James Thomas had a fumble recovery and ran it 26 yards. This put SWOSU ahead 35-0 heading into the 4th quarter.
The Bulldogs didn’t stop this quarter. We had 2 more touchdowns to put us at the final score of 50-0. NWOSU got close to scoring but Michael Arceneaux II intercepted a ranger pass in the endzone to have another turnover for the Dawgs. SWOSU worked every minute of this game and didn’t let up at any point.
This 50-0 win ended the 2024 football season for SWOSU. If you could finish anyway, this is how. The dawgs hope to push this into the offseason and get to work for the 2025 season.
