If you’re looking for a Christmas movie to watch while you’re cozy with your peppermint mocha or hot chocolate this holiday season, check out one that I’ve featured below.
1. The Polar Express
In this Tom Hanks movie, the hero boy who is skeptical of Santa Claus, after little convincing, takes a ride on “The Polar Express” headed to the North Pole as it stops in front of his house on Christmas Eve. While embarking on an adventure to see Santa prepare for take off on Christmas Eve, he quickly makes friends, and learns about the magic of Christmas. You can watch the Polar Express on Hulu, Max, and Amazon Prime.
2. A Charlie Brown Christmas
If you had the chance to catch either of my previous seasonal movie recommendations, just like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, I couldn’t resist including A Charlie Brown Christmas. See how Charlie Brown discovers a deeper meaning of Christmas by watching on Apple TV +.
3. The Grinch
Dr. Suess, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” presents The Grinch who lives on Mount Crumpit near Whoville. He decides to ruin Christmas for all the Who’s by sneaking into town and swiping anything Christmas related accompanied by his dog, Max. However, when he encounters Cindy Lou Who, his plans take a U-Turn. Find out what happens by catching the Grinch on Apple TV or Amazon Prime.
4. A Christmas Story (1983)
Whether you choose to watch the 2022 “A Christmas Story Christmas”, or the 1983’s classic leg lamp film, you’re in for a treat with Ralphie, Randy and Mr. and Mrs. Parker. In the 1983’s film there is absolutely nothing more that Ralphie wants than a Red Ryder Air Rifle. On Christmas Eve while at a department store, Ralphie comes in contact with Santa, and is sure to remind Santa of this year’s Christmas wish. On Christmas morning, Ralphie is fooled by thinking he hadn’t gotten his one wish this Christmas, however when his Dad points out that there was one final present left behind the desk for Ralphie, his Christmas wish came true at last. Keep up with the Parkers by tuning in on Max, Hulu or Amazon Prime.
5. Christmas With The Kranks
When their daughter Blair goes away to Peru for the Peace Corps, Nora and Luther Krank decide to skip out on Christmas and take a Cruise instead because they couldn’t imagine Christmas this year without their daughter. However, their plans change when Blair calls her parents from the airport and says she’s headed home for Christmas with her new fiance. See how fast the Kranks prepare for Christmas dinner by watching on Hulu, Prime, Disney + and more!
6. Elf
Although there is some worldwide controversy as to whether Will Ferrell is funny or not, Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies, and it had to make the list. In this 2003 film, Buddy the Elf was accidentally taken to the North Pole as a baby, and raised by Santa’s elves to an Adult. Once finding out, he refuses to accept the fact that he is a human and not an elf. He travels to NY in hopes of finding his Dad, Walter Hobbs. After success in finding him, like father like son, Walter Hobbs refuses to believe that Buddy is his biological son and makes him get a DNA test which just so happened to prove they are related. Find out what life is like when Buddy moves in with his new family away from the North Pole on Hulu or Amazon Prime.
Be sure to check any of the recommendations above, and check back in next semester for more movies you won’t want to miss!
