There is only one book this month but I am going to recommend the whole series if you have not read it. Hunger Games. We have seen the movies but the books will hold a special place in your heart. The books give you not just what happened in the games but what is going through Katniss’ head during them. You also can learn more details of life outside the arena. The movies are great renditions of the books but you get such a deeper dive into the true story of the districts. The whole book series is now five books and I recommend reading them in the order they came out: Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mocking Jay, Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes, and then the recent release Sunrise on the Reaping. But you can read it in the timeline order of Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes, Sunrise on the Reaping, Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and then Mocking Jay.
Sunrise on the Reaping by: Suzanne Collins
This book is the 5th book in the Hunger Games series. It was a super anticipated book and it just came out March 18th. This story gave us more look into Haymitch’s games and his life. How did he end up so out of touch when it came time for Katniss’s games? Starting this book, you can not put it down. I would recommend rewatching or rereading at least Catching Fire and Ballard of the Songbirds and Snakes. Sunrise on the reaping has many people brought up in those series you may have forgotten about. We learn that Haymitch was never as cold and he had a decent childhood. But after being reaped into the games and winning, which surprised the capitol, President Snow was not happy. The things he went through just because of the way he won, the things his family was put through. The pieces began to add up. This book will make you feel all of the emotions. You will cry and you will laugh. It was a super easy and fast read that you can’t stop thinking about.
