It’s fall season, which means pumpkin and apple recipes are all you may be craving, but you live in a dorm. Dorm kitchens are strict on what you may be able to cook, so here are some fall recipes that won’t upset your RA and will bring out all the fall feelings.
Overnight Apple Cinnamon Oats
- This recipe was super easy and quick. It took me about 5 minutes, and it was ready the next morning. All you need is a cup with a lid, I used a mason jar, and the ingredients listed below.
– ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
– ½ cup milk of choice(I used fairlife)
– ⅓ cup of chopped apple
– ½ tsp ground cinnamon
– 1 tsp maple syrup or honey(I did honey)
- How to make it:
– In the mason jar, add oats, milk, apple, cinnamon, and honey(or syrup) . Stir until everything is combined. Put the lid on your cup and refrigerate overnight to allow the oats to soften. Mine spent about 8 hours in the fridge, but they only need about 4 hours to soften. When you are ready to eat them, just stir them well, and you are good to go. I like to heat them up for about 30 seconds to a 1min in the microwave, but you can enjoy them however you like. This is optional, but I added extra apples and cinnamon to the top after heating them up for extra flavor.
- Overall, I would rate them a 10/10. It was super easy in the morning and less stressful trying to figure out what to eat.
Air Fryer Apple Chips
- This was a quick and easy snack that I made, and it was perfect for Halloween movie night. It had just the right amount of fall season feelings. Bonus, it is budget-friendly, and only three ingredients are needed!
– 2 large apples(whatever is your favorite, I used granny smith apples) and thinly slice them
-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- Instructions:
– Put your sliced apples in a bowl and add in your cinnamon and sugar(here are our measurements, but I kinda added the amount I like) and mix it all up. Then toss them in your air fryer into a single layer (I had to do two separate batches). Then set your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and let them cook for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure you are flipping them every 5 mins so they get cooked all the way around. Once don,e just let them cool and they are ready to eat.
- Another 10/10 recipe, they reminded me a lot of freeze-dried apples, but with more flavor.
Pumpkin Mug Cake
- This one is for all the pumpkin spice lovers. All you need is your microwave and a microwave-safe mug, and these ingredients:
– 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
– 2 tbsp brown sugar
– ¼ tsp baking powder
– ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg)
– Pinch of salt
– 3 tbsp milk
– 2 tbsp pumpkin purée (not pie filling)
– 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
– ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- Instructions
– Mix all the ingredients in your mug and make sure it’s completely smooth, no lumps!! Then microwave(UNCOVERED) for 70 seconds and keep an eye on it. You may have to cook it a couple more times, but when you do it make sure it’s in 15-second intervals so you don’t overcook the cake. Let it cool for a little bit and then enjoy! I added whipped cream to the top with some cinnamon, and it was delicious. You can also add different things like chocolate chips, caramel, powdered sugar, etc.
- This was a great recipe. I gave it a 9/10 as it has a lot of ingredients, but most of them won’t go bad for a while, so you can make different types of mug cakes now.
