SWOSU hosted a memorial honoring Logan Musil on Tuesday evening. The memorial was held at the Pioneer Event Center.
The memorial featured speeches from SGA Treasurer Taylor Jones, Vice President for Student Services Dr. Adam Johnson, Acting President Dr. Janet Cunningham, Scott Hume of SWOSU BCM, Kelly Tomasi of Bulldogs for Christ, and SGA Vice President Quinn Do.
Messages of hope, healing, and more were spread throughout the evening.
“Logan was part of our campus family. He sat in our classrooms, he walked these halls, and he shared time with friends. When a student passes away, the entire university feels it. We feel it in our residence halls, our teams, our student groups, and our offices. Tonight we stand together as one bulldog community,” Acting President Dr. Janet Cunningham said.
Uplifting messages for the entire community were shared. Messages that aim in efforts to honor Logan and his legacy.
“Tonight we honor Logan by remembering the warmth that he carried, the light that he brought, and the people that he loved. But we also honor him by becoming more like the community that he deserved to have around him. One marked by presence, compassion, and courage,” Scott Hume of SWOSU BCM said.
Hume went on to mention that with good, evil can be defeated.
“We can overcome evil by doing good…Let’s not grow weary of doing good. Let’s choose to be that community. Let’s choose to see, let’s choose to care, and let’s choose to light one another’s candles until the darkness gives way to dawn,” Hume said.
Later in the evening, a single candle was lit. As SGA Treasurer Taylor Jones explained, the light symbolized the love, courage, and care that continue among us. The light honors Logan’s life and the light he brought to others.
