SWOSU Symphony Orchestra Performs Sunday at WHS
Southwestern Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra will perform in concert this Sunday, November 21, at the Weatherford High School Performing Arts Center on the WHS campus.
The concert is at 3 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
Schumann’s Piano Concerto in a minor, featuring SWOSU piano faculty member Dr. Sophie Hung, will be one of the featured pieces. This is Schumann’s only piano concerto and is regarded as one of the most important piano concertos in history, according to Conductor Dr. Alex Lee.
“It is poetic, beautiful and triumphant at the end and often performed by major orchestras,” Lee said.
The orchestra will also perform Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1 and Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 5.
