Alma Mater Merc now has its own sign

On Thursday, February 28, the name for the new combined bookstore and convenience store in Henrietta Mann Hall at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford was announced. It’s Alma Mater Merc, and now, it’s officially visible for everyone driving or walking on E Davis Ave.
The new sign for the new store, over which SWOSU has taken back the management, was put up on Friday, July 3. And though many students didn’t like the name Alma Mater Merc – 92% of The Southwestern readers disagreed with the name – the sign actually doesn’t look bad.
What does Alma Mater Merc mean?
Alma Mater is a word for a formerly attended university or college. It can also be used for the university from whom one graduated. Merc stands for mercantile.
