Women’s basketball has blowout win against SAU
The SWOSU women’s basketball team took on Southern Arkansas University, which was a statement win following the loss against Harding University.
SAU made a quick 5-0 jump on SWOSU, before SWOSU rallied back and took a 12-7 lead. With momentum in their hand, the Lady Bulldogs wouldn’t give up their lead for the rest of the game. Lauren Ramey’s 11 first quarter points set the tone for SWOSU. Ramey finished the game with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
SWOSU held a 28-20 lead after the first quarter, but things started slowing in the second quarter for the Lady Bulldogs. Morgan Smith scored five straight points to give SWOSU a comfortable 34-24 lead. A barrage of three pointers and layups would ensure that SAU had no chance of making a comeback in this game. Their lead would not dip below ten points for the remainder of the game, and the point difference only grew.
The Bulldogs defeated SAU 95-58, which advanced them to 16-4 and 10-2 in the Great American Conference. SWOSU hopes to keep their momentum going into their next game on Saturday, Jan. 29 against the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
