SWOSU Men’s Basketball had their home opener Wednesday evening, defeating Oklahoma Christian Eagles 76-67.
The Dawgs had a poor first-half shooting-wise, going 29% from the field and 10% from three, but despite that, they only trailed by two at the half. These marks improved to 52% from the field and 42% from three in the second half, paving the way for the Bulldogs to take over in the second half, stretching their lead up to 15 at one point.
The Eagles mounted a late comeback attempt, cutting the lead down to five, but freshman Spencer Musgrove from Canberra, Australia closed out the game with a layup and some clutch free throws.
After falling early last season to the Eagles, the win this year certainly paves the way for deserved optimism this season for the Bulldogs.
The non-conference win moved SWOSU to 2-1 on the young season. The Bulldogs are back at home next Thursday at 7, taking on UCO. In the meantime, catch your Lady Bulldogs in action tonight at 5:30 as they take on Eastern New Mexico.
