SWOSU Baseball came out swinging this past Tuesday against OBU to run-rule them in 7 innings 20-10. This was one of the highest scoring games the Dawgs have had all season.
To start, Reece Burke had two back to back homeruns to help carry this win. However, he wasn’t the only one. Two other bulldogs collected their first home runs of the season: Rusty Wortman and Gage Gaunt. Rounding the bases, the energy was unmatched from these players. Along with the excitement from the dugout for their teammates.
It wasn’t just homeruns that ran the game. SWOSU’S Sean Monsour had three RBIs with three hits. One of these hits fell short of the fence, and the other’s were gap shots to score his teammates.
OBU was only able to score in the first, second, and seventh inning. Pitching for the Dawgs was shaky in the first inning giving up five runs. Justin Schrader came in the second and OBU scored four runs but after he settled in and got the outs he didn’t give up any more runs until the seventh. He trusted his defense to have his back and get the outs each inning. He only struck out three Bison’s and he let his offense do the work to get the lead.
SWOSU will now face Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday March 25th at 2pm here in Weatherford. The Dawgs are ranked 8th in conference and Southeastern is ranked 7th. This is an important game for SWOSU and they need all the support they can get from the student section. If you are free make your way to the fields.
