The CMVA Department Showcase took place last week at the Hilltop Theatre, putting the spotlight on the creativity, diversity, and technical skills of the students in the Creative Media & Visual Arts department. Visitors can see a variety of work, such as posters, photography series, digital media projects, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. The displays were thoughtfully arranged on the walls, tables, and easels, giving the space a gallery feel and letting each piece shine while still fitting into the overall look. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with comfortable seating and a large screen where people can relax and watch student’s projects. When you walked into the building there were computers in the box office showing The Southwestern website, and playing audio from the SWOSU Sit down podcast, and the other computers showing a slideshow of behind-the-scenes moments of the cast from the Charlie brown play. The showcase included everything from detailed drawings and expressive paintings to creative digital layouts and three-dimensional pieces, showing both strong ideas and the careful craftsmanship. In the end, the event showed the departments hard work to helping the students grow as artists, trying new things, and able to present their work professionally.
