After an 0-3 start to the 2023 season, football looked to get the season back on track against Southern Nazarene University on Saturday. The game kicked off in the blazing sun with a 2 p.m. start, and things started off hot for the Bulldogs as well.

SWOSU forced a punt on SNU’s opening drive, and the offense drove down and scored thanks to an Ethane Hyche touchdown run. After starting out strong, the offense did not find much more success throughout the rest of the game. After pitching a shutout through the first quarter, the Bulldog’s defense allowed the Crimson Storm to punch in two scores in the second quarter, which gave them the 14-7 lead.

After the halftime break, things began to fall apart. With multiple offensive drives in the second half, SWOSU could not put any points on the board and failed to stop the SNU offensive attack. The Dawgs eventually fell by a score of 41-7.

Dropping to 0-4, the Bulldogs will have a tough task next week as go on the road to Searcy, Arkansas to take on the undefeated Harding Bisons. The squad hasn’t beaten Harding since 2015, as they are currently on a six-game losing streak.

The matchup kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, and will be available to watch via Harding’s streaming site.
