Southwestern Oklahoma State University secured a huge win on Monday against Southwestern Christian University in a shutdown of 84-58. Here is how it went:
In the first half of this game, it looked like the Eagles were going to pull away with it as they came out with three three-pointers in a matter of minutes. This didn’t last very long as the Bulldogs immediately responded with ten unanswered points. The Eagles gave them an inch, and they took it all the way. Senior, #23 Elijiah Jordan made his mark in the first half as he was unstoppable. He came out scoring ten points in this half, not missing a single shot. He knew when to pass and when it was his chance, and he took it. This half ended being a little too close to comfort for the Dawgs, with the score being SWOSU up 33-27. They knew going into the last half, they needed to put the pedal to the floor to get this win.
Now, into the last half of this game, it wasn’t close. SWOSU came out shooting and didn’t hold back. They came out with 15 points unanswered before the Eagles were able to get three more points on the board. Sophomore #3 Kray Rodgers had his moment this last half. He was able to score ten more points, bringing his total to 16 points by the end of the game He didn’t just score this game either. He had a highlight of getting seven rebounds and five assists as well. You could see the drive and passion he had in this game. He wanted it, and he went and got it. #23 Elijiah Jordan didn’t stop after the first half. He went on to have a season-high game of 17 points. He dominated the Eagles; they didn’t know how to stop him. Just about all the Bulldog players had standouts in this game. All the hours they spent in practice were shown here. It was incredible to see the teamwork on the court and the excitement when any little or big thing happened. That’s how SWOSU got this win, and if this continues, we are looking at a winning season for the Dawgs.
This game ended in a Bulldogs shutdown of 84-58. This game was the last non-conference game of the season, and you couldn’t ask for a better way to roll into conference play. The Bulldogs will now face Harding University this Thursday in Searcy, Arkansas, at 7:30 pm.
