Southwestern Oklahoma State University took down the leading team in the conference, Arkansas Tech (also known as the Golden Suns), in a massive win Thursday night.
The Bulldogs did not come to mess around; they knew what a win like this could do, and they put their foot to the gas and never let off. They went after Arkansas Tech from the start. In a matter of minutes, SWOSU had double digits on the board. This came from a leading player, #25 Landry Allen. She scored 8 points in the first couple minutes of the quarter, giving the Bulldogs all the momentum they needed to be able to put more up. By the end of this quarter, the Dawgs had 25 points to Arkansas Tech’s 8. Both sides of the ball were in control, scoring just about every time they got the ball and not letting the Golden Suns score at all.
This type of energy did not let up the entire game. Each quarter, the Dawgs went after it on offense. Making this one of their best games all season. Allen was having a night. She wasn’t letting anyone by her, and if she got the ball, she was going to score.
In the last quarter, the Bulldogs had begun to run away with the game. #01 Sincere Jackson wanted in on the action. She came out making sure that any rebound was hers. With this final push, the Bulldogs finished in a dominating win of 84-56, knocking off the number one team in the conference. Landry Allen finished with a total of 22 points scored and a season high in blocks.
This win is a game-changer for the Bulldogs. They are back in conference and can carry this confidence from this win the rest of the season. In my opinion, this win was what they needed to get back on their feet and was one of the best games I’ve seen them play all season. The fire they had in them on the court was like none other.
SWOSU now looks to face Ouachita Baptist this Thursday at 5:30 pm in Arkansas. There will be a live stream available to watch. Go Dawgs!
