Southwestern Oklahoma State University unleashed on Randall University in a mid-week game to finish their pre-season. This was a full offensive game for the Bulldogs, racking up a 24-3 win.
SWOSU came out scoring first in the first inning. They continue to work base-to-base and finding gaps to score. They pushed five runs across four innings. Randall University wasn’t backing down, though, and they managed to score two of their own before SWOSU busted it open.
The fifth inning is where this game began to get out of hand. I have never seen this strong of hitting from a SWOSU baseball team. They couldn’t be stopped. Randall University tried; they switched pitchers multiple times, but the Bulldogs were on top of every single one of them. This became a 13-run inning very quickly. Every Dawg in the line-up recorded at least one hit but no home runs. It was line-drive after line-drive as they knew that with the Weatherford wind blowing into the field, they had to keep the hits low. They had all the energy on their side and were shutting down Randall University with doubles and singles.
After the 13-run inning, SWOSU kept their foot on the pedal and scored another six in the sixth inning. Randall University had no way of stopping this offense, and they couldn’t get past the Bulldogs’ pitchers. SWOSU threw six different pitchers, and Randall University couldn’t figure out any of them. They all racked up multiple strikeouts, groundouts, and pop-outs.
This was one of the best offensives I have watched in college baseball. This game was a stand-out, but SWOSU baseball is consistently having high scoring games. They are working well together, being able to string hits back-to-back and not leaving runners on base. This team is something special. This level of competitiveness in a team can’t be beaten.
SWOSU baseball will now begin conference play this Sunday in Russellville, Arkansas, against Arkansas Tech. Having this win before starting the conference play is huge. If they keep this momentum up, nothing can stop them. Go Dawgs!
