Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon has announced that dedication activities for the General Thomas P. Stafford Archives at the Al Harris Library at SWOSU Weatherford—originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022—are being postponed due to the spread and rising infection rates of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.

“In consultation with General Stafford and his team, the SWOSU executive leadership has decided to postpone the dedication of the Stafford Archives here at SWOSU in light of the latest surging variant of the COVID-19 virus,” said SWOSU Vice President for Institutional Advancement Garrett King.

King said SWOSU will continue preparing the archives for the dedication activities and will announce a new dedication date and time when scheduled.

“We are grateful to General Stafford, to our elected and appointed partners in state government, and to the Oklahoma congressional delegation and staffs for their patience and understanding in helping us facilitate a safe dedication of the Stafford Archives once the current Omicron spike abates,” King said.
