Registration ends soon for Oklahoma primary

With the Presidential Preferential Primary Election approaching fast, some students might ask themselves if they still have the opportunity to register as voters in Oklahoma.
Short answer: Yes, they can. Generally, a Voter Identification Card is not issued 24 days prior to an election, according to the Oklahoma State Election Board. With that in mind, the deadline to register in order to vote at the primaries is Feb. 7. The primary will take place on Super Tuesday, which will be on March 3. The deadline for the Presidential Election (Nov. 3) is Oct. 9.
Registering to vote is very simple and really does not take much time. You will need to fill out a voter registration application form, sign and date an oath, and mail it back to the State Election Board. You can download the application form online or receive it at the County Election Board. You may also get an application form at the local post office, tag agency, library, and other public locations. If the Election Board approves your application, they will mail you the Voter Identification Card.
The common requirements apply. You need to be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Oklahoma. Although voting is permitted from the age of 18, you may pre-register to vote at the age of 17½.
